Argonaut, the eponymous debut album. The culmination of six home studio demo albums re-worked and re-recorded for the masses. Nineties style grunge guitar comparisons with some tender moments from a band starting out with their hearts firmly emblazoned on their sleeves.
The album demonstrates a mix of their rock influences, including Sonic Youth, Garbage, Hole and The Pixies, and has already gained vast support from the Club Circuit. From the guitar led grunge of tracks like ‘Touch Electric’ playing out at Club NME, Propaganda and a number of the other scene clubs, to the stripped back sounds of tracks like ‘Chemistry’, the album represents a band who are not afraid to experiment with their sound and emotions.
Over eighteen months in the making, the first Argonaut album finally saw Nathan and Lorna Lyons musical ambitions realised after nearly ten years treading the boards. Throughout the noughties they recorded six ‘demo’ albums, stockpiling a mass of material along the way. Through connections made at gigs they eventually signed a deal with London based Criminal Records.
Cherry-picking through their vast catalogue of songs, Nathan, and Lorna the album was produced by The Kut, who was also the drummer on the record. The album built upon the original demos at Cartel Studios. Backing vocals were supplied by Abby, a friend of the group who subsequently joined on a full time basis.
